Last Day of Kindergarten

Wow.  It's hard to believe the school year is over.  Erik has had such a great year.  Senorita Joyner was a wonderful teacher (any teacher who loves him that much is wonderful in my book!) and he made some excellent friends.  Last week as I was walking back into school at the end of the day, another teacher pulled me aside.  She said she had seen Erik earlier in the day with a few other boys.  They were in a big huddle of a hug and kept saying to each other, "I'm there for you, man."  "I'm there for you."  I really wasn't surprised to hear that.  Although they can pester each other, mostly they are such good friends to each other!

Today there was an end of the year concert for the kindergarteners.  Each class sang a couple songs and then there were cookies for the students.  I cried, and Erik's been weepy all day.  Because this group worked so well together, I wish that we had the system they have in Norway, where a class of students and the teacher stay together through two or three grades.

Morfar just heard yesterday that
the teacher he had in Norway for
3 years and Uncle Harald had for
7 years has died. She was in her
90's and Morfar, Bestemor and
Froeken had lunch together 2 yrs
ago.
It was a very impressive program
today--especially the camaraderie these children have--hugging and
putting their arms around each other.
Very inspiring.
