Erik's first poem

"Red means stop
Green means go
Let's go drink
some hot cocoa."

1st word

We keep a row or two of rubber duckies on the window sill in the bathroom. Adin will often reach for one as we leave. Today he got one, I said, "do you want a duck" and he said "duh...k". It was very exciting!

Hands

We sing a table prayer in which we hold out our hands, singing "hands, hands, hands, thank you God for hands", point at the food and say, "food,..." and then we all hold hands and sing "family,...". Today I was reading Adin a book about body parts, when I came to the hands page I started singing the table prayer. He looked at me, smiled and held out his hands. Then he reached out to hold my hands (for the family part). It was very sweet.

Say what?

Erik's Grampa comes over once a week and watches Adin while I take Erik to Barnehage. Most weeks Grampa brings a snack to share with Erik, and usually it's blueberry muffins. This week, after Grampa left and we were eating lunch we had the following conversation:

Erik: Do you know how to make nuts?
Me: Well, you don't really make nuts, they grow.
E: I mean the kind Grampa bringed.
Me: thought: Grampa brings muffins not nuts. said: Uh, I don't know how to make those.
E: I mean the circle nuts.
Me: I have no idea what you are talking about.
E: Kind of like a bagel nut.
Me: Doughnuts! and then laughed until I fell off my chair.
