Last weekend Adin started flashing the pseudo-smiles. He's too young to really be smiling, but at least passing gas seems to make him happy. It's fun to see what he'll look like in a few weeks, once he starts to respond to us with smiles.
On the other side of the coin, last week Erik was struggling with being a big brother. He wasn't sleeping well, took a long time to fall asleep and woke frequently crying from bad dreams. During the day he's easily upset and was starting to act out a bit. When we first brought home Adin, Erik was a little more rambunctious than usual, but last week he was hitting and drawing on furniture and things. My heart just breaks for him, because I know this isn't his true personality, he's just trying to process a situation he doesn't understand. I wish there were a way to tell him that even though there's this loud munchkin who gets held in our arms all day long, we still love Erik so much it's bringing me to tears just writing this. I guess we'll just have to keep giving him hugs and kisses and let him process it in his own toddler way.
